Industrial Rope Access Trade Association

IRATA is an abbreviation for Industrial Rope Access Trade Association. The organisation was established in the 1980s in the United Kingdom and originates from the offshore oil and gas industry, where maintenance had to be carried out in difficult-to-access locations. IRATA has since grown to become the world's largest training, registration, and quality system for industrial rope techniques, and is thereby the legal standard for industrial climbing. This ISO17024 certified quality label operates according to strict work guidelines and consists of 3 levels.

  • Level 1: Performing basic Rope Access techniques according to IRATA guidelines.
  • Level 2: Proficient in advanced techniques, rigging, and rescues.
  • Level 3 supervisor: Responsible for safety and must be capable of performing all possible techniques and rescue

When opting for Rope Access services, it is important to work with an IRATA-certified company. This ensures trained technicians qualified to the highest standards. Collaborating with an IRATA-certified company provides you with certainty, knowing that your project is in capable hands. You can recognise a certified IRATA member by the logo.
